Submarine underwater telephone & GIB-SAR - Fast Search & Rescue ops Based on this principle, Thales Safare and ACSA Underwater GPS have decided to guaranty the interoperability in between their underwater communication equipment and Search and Rescue systems.
Thales Safare underwater telephones TUUM-4 & TUUM-5 and ESAX-2A distress beacon transmit acoustic signals fully compatible with ACSA's GIB-SAR localization and guidance system based on surface drifting or anchored GPS buoys. This allows a rapid and accurate re-localization, in geographic coordinates (Longitude et Latitude) , of the lost assets (DISSUB or sunken aircraft) ; but also, during the initial phase of rescue context assessment, transmission of main parameters that will allow to select, immediately, the adequate rescue means required.
