23-Oct-2006 New export contract for ACSA Underwater GPS Delivery of electric-powered Station Keeping Buoys to the US Navy ACSA Underwater GPS has been notified of an important order by Lockheed Martin, Marlton, New Jersey, for the delivery of electric powered Station Keeping Buoys (SKBs) with supporting data, equipment and services. The SKBs will form a part of the US Navy’s Portable Undersea Tracking Range (PUTR), whose primary mission is to support fleet readiness through training and tactical developments of submarine, surface and air platforms in undersea warfare. The PUTR system is a self-contained, portable undersea acoustic tracking range for use primarily in non-instrumented areas where forward deployed forces of the Pacific fleet are located.
The SKB will station-keep near to the center of an array of NASPAR transponders, acting to download seabed acquired vehicle tracking information.
ACSA's SKBs, with a nominal weight of 300 Kg and equipped with 2 electric propellers, have an autonomy of 8 hours and are remotely operated at a distance up to 10 km from the control station. They withstand sea states greater than level 3
ACSA’s software "FleetManager" is used for SKB supervision. This software provides for mission planning and real-time positioning and guidance, as well as drone station keeping on target.
