    Expeditious SAR mission in Russia

On May 8th, 2006, ACSA has been urgently asked by BEA (French Bureau of Investigation and Analysis) to localize precisely the 2 Armavia's plane black boxes after the plane accident in the Black Sea.
After one day for setting up GIB equipment at Sochi (Russia) harbor, ACSA's team accessed to the crash zone on the morning of the 11th. A few hours later, the flight recorders geographical coordinates were transmitted to the Russian authorities with a 5-meters accuracy in longitude and latitude. A few days after, both black boxes where recovered, though they were buried into the mud.
This expeditious mission demonstrates one more time, the power of ACSA's innovative techniques to quickly relocate the acoustic distress beacons. After this very important step, the search area is reduced to few tens square meters saving time and money.
